[[#Verse 15.]] Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, Heth,  [[#Verse 16.]] the Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,  [[#Verse 17.]] Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,  [[#Verse 18.]] Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. Eventually the families of the Canaanites were scattered  [[#Verse 19.]] and the borders of Canaan extended from Sidon all the way to Gerar as far as Gaza, and all the way to Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboyim, as far as Lasha.  [[#Verse 20.]] These are the sons of Ham, according to their families, according to their languages, by their lands, and by their nations. [[#Verse 21.]] And sons were also born to **Shem** (the older brother of Japheth), the father of all the sons of Eber. [[#Verse 22.]] The sons of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.  [[#Verse 23.]] The sons of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.  [[#Verse 24.]] Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber.  [[#Verse 25.]] Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg because in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan.  [[#Verse 26.]] Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,  [[#Verse 27.]] Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,  [[#Verse 28.]] Obal, Abimael, Sheba,  [[#Verse 29.]] Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.  [[#Verse 30.]] Their dwelling place was from Mesha all the way to Sephar in the eastern hills.  [[#Verse 31.]] These are the sons of Shem according to their families, according to their languages, by their lands, and according to their nations. [[#Verse 32.]] These are the families of the sons of Noah, according to their genealogies, by their nations, and from these the nations spread over the earth after the flood. ## ==📖 Verse-by-Verse Commentary== ###### Overall. ###### Verse 01. ###### Verse 02. ###### Verse 03. ###### Verse 04. ###### Verse 05. ###### Verse 06. ###### Verse 07. ###### Verse 08. ###### Verse 09. ###### Verse 10. ###### Verse 11. ###### Verse 12. ###### Verse 13. ###### Verse 14. ###### Verse 15. ###### Verse 16. ###### Verse 17. ###### Verse 18. ###### Verse 19. ###### Verse 20. ###### Verse 21. ###### Verse 22. ###### Verse 23. ###### Verse 24. ###### Verse 25. ###### Verse 26. ###### Verse 27. ###### Verse 28. ###### Verse 29. ###### Verse 30. ###### Verse 31. ###### Verse 32. ## 🤔 Interesting Facts / Historical and Cultural Insights - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write down things that are not straight from commentary but interesting facts that ground the text in history. %% ## 🧠 Chapter Summary - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write a short paragraph (3–5 sentences) summarizing what happens in this chapter. - What is the main event or teaching? - How does this chapter fit the book’s overall story? - What stands out immediately?
