Biblical Studies Press, 2005) ### Job’s Confession 42Ā Then Job answered theĀ Lord: 2Ā ā€œI know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted; 3Ā you asked,Ā ā€˜Who is this who darkens counsel without knowledge?’ ButĀ I have declared without understanding things too wonderful for me to know. 4Ā You said,Ā ā€˜Pay attention, and I will speak; I will question you, and you will answer me.’ 5Ā I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye has seen you. 6Ā Therefore I despise myself, and I repent in dust and ashes!ā€ ### **VII. The Epilogue (42:7-17)** ### **Job’s Restoration** 7Ā After theĀ LordĀ had spoken these things to Job, heĀ said to Eliphaz the Temanite, ā€œMy anger is stirred upĀ against you and your two friends, because you have not spoken about me what is right,Ā as my servant Job has.Ā 8Ā So now takeĀ seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job will intercedeĀ for you, and I will respect him,Ā so that I do not deal with youĀ according to your folly,Ā because you have not spoken about me what is right, as my servant Job has.ā€ 9Ā So they went, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, and did just as theĀ LordĀ had told them; and theĀ LordĀ had respect for Job. 10Ā So theĀ LordĀ restored what Job had lostĀ after he prayed for his friends,Ā and theĀ LordĀ doubledĀ all that had belonged to Job.Ā 11Ā So they came to him, all his brothers and sisters and all who had known him before, and they dinedĀ with him in his house. They comforted him and consoled him for all the trouble theĀ LordĀ had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silverĀ and a gold ring. 12Ā So theĀ LordĀ blessed the second part of Job’s life more than the first. He had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.Ā 13Ā And he also had seven sonsĀ and three daughters.Ā 14Ā The first daughter he named Jemimah,Ā the second Keziah,Ā and the third Keren-Happuch.Ā 15Ā Nowhere in all the land could women be found who were as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance alongside their brothers. 16Ā After this Job lived 140 years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.Ā 17Ā And so Job died, old and full of days. ## ==šŸ“– Verse-by-Verse Commentary== - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write something for each verse Each verse is important. %% ## šŸ¤” Interesting Facts / Historical and Cultural Insights - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write down things that are not straight from commentary but interesting facts that ground the text in history. %% ## 🧠 Chapter Summary - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write a short paragraph (3–5 sentences) summarizing what happens in this chapter. - What is the main event or teaching? - How does this chapter fit the book’s overall story? - What stands out immediately?
