Biblical Studies Press, 2005) #### For the music director, according to the _shushan-eduth_ style; a psalm of Asaph. [[#Verse 01.]] O Shepherd of Israel, pay attention, you who lead Joseph like a flock of sheep. You who sit enthroned above the cherubim, reveal your splendor. [[#Verse 02.]] In the sight of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh reveal your power. Come and deliver us. [[#Verse 03.]] O God, restore us. Smile on us. Then we will be delivered. [[#Verse 04.]] O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies, how long will you remain angry at your people while they pray to you? [[#Verse 05.]] You have given them tears as food; you have made them drink tears by the measure. [[#Verse 06.]] You have made our neighbors dislike us, and our enemies insult us. [[#Verse 07.]] O God of Heaven’s Armies, restore us. Smile on us. Then we will be delivered. [[#Verse 08.]] You uprooted a vine from Egypt; you drove out nations and transplanted it. [[#Verse 09.]] You cleared the ground for it; it took root, and filled the land. [[#Verse 10.]] The mountains were covered by its shadow, the highest cedars by its branches. [[#Verse 11.]] Its branches reached the Mediterranean Sea, and its shoots the Euphrates River. [[#Verse 12.]] Why did you break down its walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit? [[#Verse 13.]] The wild boars of the forest ruin it; the insects of the field feed on it. [[#Verse 14.]] O God of Heaven’s Armies, come back. Look down from heaven and take notice. Take care of this vine, [[#Verse 15.]] the root your right hand planted, the shoot you made to grow. [[#Verse 16.]] It is burned and cut down. May those who did this die because you are displeased with them. [[#Verse 17.]] May you give support to the one you have chosen, to the one whom you raised up for yourself. [[#Verse 18.]] Then we will not turn away from you. Revive us and we will pray to you. [[#Verse 19.]] O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies, restore us. Smile on us. Then we will be delivered. ## ==📖 Verse-by-Verse Commentary== ###### Overall. ###### Verse 01. ###### Verse 02. ###### Verse 03. ###### Verse 04. ###### Verse 05. ###### Verse 06. ###### Verse 07. ###### Verse 08. ###### Verse 09. ###### Verse 10. ###### Verse 11. ###### Verse 12. ###### Verse 13. ###### Verse 14. ###### Verse 15. ###### Verse 16. ###### Verse 17. ###### Verse 18. ###### Verse 19. ## 🤔 Interesting Facts / Historical and Cultural Insights - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write down things that are not straight from the commentary but interesting facts that ground the text in history. %% ## 🧠 Chapter Summary - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write a short paragraph (3–5 sentences) summarizing what happens in this chapter. - What is the main event or teaching? - How does this chapter fit the book’s overall story? - What stands out immediately?
