The water you take out of the Nile will become blood on the dry ground.ā€ 10Ā Then Moses said to theĀ Lord,Ā ā€œOĀ my Lord,Ā I am not an eloquent man, neither in the pastĀ nor since you have spoken to your servant, for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.ā€ 11Ā TheĀ LordĀ said to him, ā€œWho gaveĀ a mouth to man, or who makes a person mute or deaf or seeing or blind? Is it not I, theĀ Lord?Ā  12Ā So now go, and I will be with your mouthĀ and will teach youĀ what you must say.ā€ 13Ā But Moses said,Ā ā€œOĀ my Lord, please send anyone else whom you wish to send!ā€ 14Ā Then theĀ LordĀ became angry withĀ Moses, and he said, ā€œWhat aboutyour brother Aaron the Levite?Ā I know that he can speak very well. Moreover, he is comingĀ to meet you, and when he sees you he will be glad in his heart. 15Ā ā€œSo you are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth. And as for me, I will be with your mouthĀ and with his mouth,Ā and I will teach you bothĀ what you must do.Ā  16Ā HeĀ will speak for you to the people, and it will be as ifĀ heĀ were your mouthĀ and as if you were his God.Ā  17Ā You will also take in your hand this staff, with which you will do the signs.ā€ ### The Return of Moses 18Ā Ā So Moses went backĀ to his father-in-law Jethro and said to him, ā€œLet me go, so that I may returnĀ to my relativesĀ in Egypt and seeĀ if they are still alive.ā€ Jethro said to Moses, ā€œGo in peace.ā€Ā  19Ā TheĀ LordĀ said to Moses in Midian, ā€œGo backĀ to Egypt, because all the men who were seeking your life are dead.ā€Ā  20Ā Then Moses tookĀ his wife and sonsĀ and put them on a donkey and headed backĀ to the land of Egypt, and Moses took the staff of God in his hand.Ā  21Ā TheĀ LordĀ said to Moses, ā€œWhen you go back to Egypt,Ā see that youĀ do before Pharaoh all the wonders I have put under your control.Ā But I will hardenĀ his heartĀ andhe will not let the people go.Ā  22Ā You must say to Pharaoh, ā€˜This is what theĀ LordĀ has said, ā€œIsrael is my son, my firstborn,Ā  23Ā and I said to you, ā€˜Let my son go that he may serveĀ me,’ but since you have refused to let him go,Ā I will surely killĀ your son, your firstborn!ā€ā€™ā€ 24Ā Now on the way, at a place where they stopped for the night,Ā theĀ LordĀ met Moses and sought to kill him.Ā  25Ā But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off the foreskin of her son and touched it to Moses’ feet,Ā and said, ā€œSurely you are a bridegroom of bloodĀ to me.ā€Ā  26Ā So theĀ LordĀ let him alone. (At that timeĀ she said, ā€œA bridegroom of blood,ā€ referring tothe circumcision.) 27Ā TheĀ LordĀ saidĀ to Aaron, ā€œGo to the wilderness to meet Moses. So he went and met him at the mountain of GodĀ and greeted him with a kiss. 28Ā Moses told Aaron all the words of theĀ LordĀ who hadĀ sent him and all the signs that he had commanded him.Ā  29Ā Then Moses and Aaron went and brought together all the Israelite elders.Ā  30Ā Aaron spokeĀ all the words that theĀ LordĀ had spoken to Moses and did the signs in the sight of the people,Ā  31Ā and the people believed. When they heardĀ that theĀ LordĀ had attended toĀ the Israelites and that he had seen their affliction, they bowed down close to the ground. --- ## šŸ“– Verse-by-Verse Commentary Verse 25- Lecture about this text. - [Carmen Imes on Zipporah](https://youtu.be/u-u1scMa9u4?si=mhkdXp39MPJWdpax) --- ## šŸ¤” Interesting Facts / Historical and Cultural Insights --- ## 🧠 Chapter Summary Write a short paragraph (3–5 sentences) summarizing what happens in this chapter. - What is the main event or teaching? - How does this chapter fit the book’s overall story? - What stands out immediately?
