Biblical Studies Press, 2005) ### The Guilt Offering [[#Verse 01.]]Ā ā€œā€˜This is the law of the guilt offering. It is most holy.Ā  [[#Verse 02.]]Ā In the place where they slaughter the burnt offering they must slaughter the guilt offering, and the officiating priestĀ must splashĀ the blood against the altar’s sides.Ā  [[#Verse 03.]]Ā Then the one making the offeringĀ must present all its fat: the fatty tail, the fat covering the entrails,Ā  [[#Verse 04.]]Ā the two kidneys and the fat on their sinews, and the protruding lobe on the liver (which he must remove along with the kidneys).Ā  [[#Verse 05.]]Ā Then the priest must offer them up in smoke on the altarĀ as a gift to theĀ Lord. It is a guilt offering. [[#Verse 06.]]Ā Any male among the priests may eat it. It must be eaten in a holy place. It is most holy.Ā  [[#Verse 07.]]Ā The law is the same for the sin offering and the guilt offering;Ā it belongs to the priest who makes atonement with it. ### Priestly Portions of Burnt and Grain Offerings [[#Verse 08.]]Ā ā€œā€˜As for the priest who presents someone’s burnt offering, the hide of that burnt offering which he presented belongs to him.Ā  [[#Verse 09.]]Ā Every grain offering which is baked in the oven orĀ made in the panĀ or on the griddle belongs to the priest who presented it.Ā  [[#Verse 10.]]Ā Every grain offering, whether mixed with olive oil or dry, belongs to all the sons of Aaron, each one alike. ### The Peace Offering [[#Verse 11.]]Ā ā€œā€˜This is the law of the peace-offering sacrifice which heĀ is to present to theĀ Lord.Ā  [[#Verse 12.]]Ā If he presents it on account of thanksgiving,Ā along with the thank-offering sacrifice he must present unleavened loaves mixed with olive oil, unleavened wafers smeared with olive oil,Ā and well-soaked,Ā ring-shaped loaves made of choice wheat flourĀ mixed with olive oil.Ā  [[#Verse 13.]]Ā He must present this grain offeringĀ in addition to ring-shaped loaves of leavened bread which regularly accompanyĀ the sacrifice of his thanksgiving peace offering.Ā  [[#Verse 14.]]Ā He must present one of each kind of grain offeringĀ as a contribution offeringĀ to theĀ Lord; it belongs to the priest who splashes the blood of the peace offering.Ā  [[#Verse 15.]]Ā The meat of hisĀ thanksgiving peace offering must be eaten on the day of his offering; he must not set any of it aside until morning. [[#Verse 16.]]Ā ā€œā€˜If his offering is a votive or freewill sacrifice,Ā it may be eaten on the day he presents his sacrifice, and also the leftovers from it may be eaten on the next day,Ā  [[#Verse 17.]]Ā but the leftovers from the meat of the sacrifice must be burned up in the fireĀ on the third day.Ā  [[#Verse 18.]]Ā If some of the meat of his peace-offering sacrifice is ever eaten on the third day it will not be accepted; it will not be accounted to the one who presented it since it is spoiled,Ā and the person who eats from it will bear his punishment for iniquity.Ā  [[#Verse 19.]]Ā The meat which touches anything ceremonially uncleanĀ must not be eaten; it must be burned up in the fire. As for ceremonially clean meat,Ā everyone who is ceremonially clean may eat the meat.Ā  [[#Verse 20.]]Ā The person who eats meat from the peace-offering sacrifice which belongs to theĀ LordĀ while that person’s uncleanness persistsĀ will be cut off from his people.Ā  [[#Verse 21.]]Ā When a person touches anything unclean (whether human uncleanness, or an unclean animal, or an unclean detestable creature)Ā and eats some of the meat of the peace-offering sacrifice which belongs to theĀ Lord, that person will be cut off from his people.ā€™ā€ ### Sacrificial Instructions for the Common People: Fat and Blood [[#Verse 22.]]Ā Then theĀ LordĀ spoke to Moses:Ā  [[#Verse 23.]]Ā ā€œTell the Israelites, ā€˜You must not eat any fat of an ox, sheep, or goat.Ā  [[#Verse 24.]]Ā Moreover, the fat of an animal that has died of natural causesĀ and the fat of an animal torn by beasts may be used for any other purpose,Ā but you must certainly never eat it.Ā  [[#Verse 25.]]Ā If anyone eats fat from the animal from which he presents a gift to theĀ Lord, that person will be cut off from his people.Ā  [[#Verse 26.]]Ā And you must not eat any blood of the birds or of the domesticated land animals in any of the places where you live.Ā  [[#Verse 27.]]Ā Any person who eats any blood—that person will be cut off from his people.ā€™ā€ ### Priestly Portions of Peace Offerings [[#Verse 28.]]Ā Then theĀ LordĀ spoke to Moses:Ā  [[#Verse 29.]]Ā ā€œTell the Israelites, ā€˜The one who presents his peace-offering sacrifice to theĀ LordĀ must bring part of his offering to theĀ LordĀ as his sacrifice.Ā  [[#Verse 30.]]Ā With his own hands he must bring theĀ Lord’s gifts. He must bring the fat with the breastĀ to wave the breast as a wave offering before theĀ Lord,Ā  [[#Verse 31.]]Ā and the priest must offer the fat up in smoke on the altar, but the breast will belong to Aaron and his sons.Ā  [[#Verse 32.]]Ā The right thigh you must give as a contribution offeringĀ to the priest from your peace-offering sacrifice.Ā  [[#Verse 33.]]Ā The one from Aaron’s sons who presents the blood of the peace offering and fat will have the right thigh as his share,Ā  [[#Verse 34.]]Ā for the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the contribution offering I have taken from the Israelites out of their peace-offering sacrifices and have given them to Aaron the priest and to his sons from the people of Israel as a perpetual allotted portion.ā€™ā€ [[#Verse 35.]]Ā This is the allotment of Aaron and the allotment of his sons from theĀ Lord’s gifts on the day MosesĀ presented them to serve as priestsĀ to theĀ Lord.Ā  [[#Verse 36]]Ā This is what theĀ LordĀ commanded to give to them from the Israelites on the day MosesĀ anointed them—a perpetual allotted portion throughout their generations. ### Summary of Sacrificial Regulations in Leviticus 6:8-7:36 [[#Verse 37.]]Ā This is the lawĀ for the burnt offering, the grain offering,Ā the sin offering, the guilt offering, the ordination offering,Ā and the peace-offering sacrifice,Ā  [[#Verse 38]]Ā which theĀ LordĀ commanded Moses on Mount Sinai on the day he commanded the Israelites to present their offerings to theĀ LordĀ in the desert of Sinai. ## ==šŸ“– Verse-by-Verse Commentary== ###### Overall. ###### Verse 01. ###### Verse 02. ###### Verse 03. ###### Verse 04. ###### Verse 05. ###### Verse 06. ###### Verse 07. ###### Verse 08. ###### Verse 09. ###### Verse 10. ###### Verse 11. ###### Verse 12. ###### Verse 13. ###### Verse 14. ###### Verse 15. ###### Verse 16. ###### Verse 17. ###### Verse 18. ###### Verse 19. ###### Verse 20. ###### Verse 21. ###### Verse 22. ###### Verse 23. ###### Verse 24. ###### Verse 25. ###### Verse 26. ###### Verse 27. ###### Verse 28. ###### Verse 29. ###### Verse 30. ###### Verse 31. ###### Verse 32. ###### Verse 33. ###### Verse 34. ###### Verse 35. ## šŸ¤” Interesting Facts / Historical and Cultural Insights - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write down things that are not straight from commentary but interesting facts that ground the text in history. %% ## 🧠 Chapter Summary - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write a short paragraph (3–5 sentences) summarizing what happens in this chapter. - What is the main event or teaching? - How does this chapter fit the book’s overall story? - What stands out immediately?
