Biblical Studies Press, 2005) ### Inauguration of Tabernacle Worship [[#Verse 01.]]Ā On the eighth dayĀ Moses summonedĀ Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel,Ā  [[#Verse 02.]]Ā and said to Aaron, ā€œTake for yourself a bull calf for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both flawless, and present them before theĀ Lord.Ā  [[#Verse 03.]]Ā Then tell the Israelites: ā€˜Take a male goatĀ for a sin offering and a calf and a lamb, both a year old and flawless,Ā for a burnt offering,Ā  [[#Verse 04.]]Ā and an ox and a ram for peace offerings to sacrifice before theĀ Lord, and a grain offering mixed with olive oil, for today theĀ LordĀ is going to appearĀ to you.ā€™ā€Ā  [[#Verse 05.]]Ā So they took what Moses had commanded to the front ofĀ the Meeting Tent and the whole congregation presented them and stood before theĀ Lord.Ā  [[#Verse 06.]]Ā Then Moses said, ā€œThis is what theĀ LordĀ has commanded you to doĀ so that the glory of theĀ LordĀ may appearĀ to you.ā€Ā  [[#Verse 07.]]Ā Moses then said to Aaron, ā€œApproach the altar and make your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement on behalf of yourself and on behalf of the people;Ā and also make the people’s offering and make atonement on behalf of them just as theĀ LordĀ has commanded.ā€ ### The Sin Offering for the Priests [[#Verse 08.]]Ā So Aaron approached the altar and slaughtered the sin offering calf which was for himself. [[#Verse 09.]]Ā Then Aaron’s sons presented the blood to him and he dipped his finger in the blood and put it on the horns of the altar, and the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar.Ā  [[#Verse 10.]]Ā The fat and the kidneys and the protruding lobe ofĀ the liver from the sin offering he offered up in smoke on the altar just as theĀ LordĀ had commanded Moses,Ā  [[#Verse 11.]]Ā but the flesh and the hide he completely burned upĀ outside the camp. ### The Burnt Offering for the Priests [[#Verse 12.]]Ā He then slaughtered the burnt offering, and his sonsĀ handedĀ the blood to him and he splashedĀ it against the altar’s sides.Ā  [[#Verse 13.]]Ā The burnt offering itself they handedĀ to him by its parts, including the head,Ā and he offered them up in smoke on the altar,Ā  [[#Verse 14.]]Ā and he washed the entrails and the legs and offered them up in smoke on top of the burnt offering on the altar. ### The Offerings for the People [[#Verse 15.]]Ā Then he presented the people’s offering. He took the sin offering male goat which was for the people, slaughtered it, and performed a purification rite with itĀ like the first one.Ā  [[#Verse 10.]]6Ā He then presented the burnt offering, and did it according to the standard regulation.Ā  [[#Verse 17.]]Ā Next he presented the grain offering, filled his hand with some of it, and offered it up in smoke on the altar in addition to the morning burnt offering.Ā  [[#Verse 18.]]Ā Then he slaughtered the ox and the ram—the peace-offering sacrifices which were for the people—and Aaron’s sons handedĀ the blood to him and he splashed it against the altar’s sides.Ā  [[#Verse 19.]]Ā As for the fat parts from the ox and from the ramĀ (the fatty tail, the fat covering the entrails,Ā the kidneys, and the protruding lobe of the liver),Ā  [[#Verse 20.]]Ā theyĀ set those on the breasts and he offered the fat parts up in smoke on the altar.Ā  [[#Verse 21.]]Ā Finally Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh as a wave offering before theĀ LordĀ just as Moses had commanded. [[#Verse 22.]]Ā Then Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them and descended from making the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offering.Ā  [[#Verse 23.]]Ā Moses and Aaron then entered into the Meeting Tent. When they came out, they blessed the people, and the glory of theĀ LordĀ appeared to all the people.Ā  [[#Verse 24.]]Ā Then fire went out from the presence of theĀ LordĀ and consumed the burnt offering and the fat parts on the altar, and all the people saw it, so they shouted loudly and fell down with their faces to the ground. ## ==šŸ“– Verse-by-Verse Commentary== ###### Overall. ###### Verse 01. ###### Verse 02. ###### Verse 03. ###### Verse 04. ###### Verse 05. ###### Verse 06. ###### Verse 07. ###### Verse 08. ###### Verse 09. ###### Verse 10. ###### Verse 11. ###### Verse 12. ###### Verse 13. ###### Verse 14. ###### Verse 15. ###### Verse 16. ###### Verse 17. ###### Verse 18. ###### Verse 19. ###### Verse 20. ###### Verse 21. ###### Verse 22. ###### Verse 23. ###### Verse 24. ## šŸ¤” Interesting Facts / Historical and Cultural Insights - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write down things that are not straight from commentary but interesting facts that ground the text in history. %% ## 🧠 Chapter Summary - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write a short paragraph (3–5 sentences) summarizing what happens in this chapter. - What is the main event or teaching? - How does this chapter fit the book’s overall story? - What stands out immediately?
