Biblical Studies Press, 2005) [[#Verse 01.]] This is what theĀ LordĀ says: ā€œBecause Moab has committed three crimes— make that four—I will not revoke my decree of judgment. They burned the bones of Edom’s king into lime. [[#Verse 02.]]Ā So I will set Moab on fire, and it will consume Kerioth’sĀ fortresses. Moab will perishĀ in the heat of battle amid war cries and the blaringĀ of the ram’s horn. [[#Verse 03.]]Ā I will removeĀ Moab’s leader; I will kill all Moab’sĀ officialsĀ with him.ā€ TheĀ LordĀ has spoken! [[#Verse 04.]]Ā This is what theĀ LordĀ says: ā€œBecause Judah has committed three covenant transgressions— make that four—I will not revoke my decree of judgment. They rejected theĀ Lord’s law; they did not obey his commands. Their false gods, to which their fathers were loyal, led them astray. [[#Verse 05.]]Ā So I will set Judah on fire, and it will consume Jerusalem’s fortresses.ā€ ### God Will Judge Israel [[#Verse 06.]]Ā This is what theĀ LordĀ says: ā€œBecause Israel has committed three covenant transgressions— make that four—I will not revoke my decree of judgment. They sold the innocentĀ for silver, the needy for a pair of sandals. [[#Verse 07.]] They trampleĀ on the dirt-covered heads of the poor; they push the destitute away. A man and his father go to the same girl; in this way they show disrespect forĀ my moral purity. [[#Verse 08.]]Ā They stretch out on clothing seized as collateral; they do so rightĀ beside every altar! They drink wine bought with the fines they have levied; they do so right in the templeĀ of their God! [[#Verse 09.]]Ā For Israel’s sake I destroyed the Amorites. They were as tall as cedars and as strong as oaks, but I destroyed the fruit on their branches and their roots in the ground. [[#Verse 10.]]Ā I brought you up from the land of Egypt; I led you through the wilderness for forty years so you could take the Amorites’ land as your own. [[#Verse 11.]]Ā I made some of your sons prophets and some of your young men Nazirites. Is this not true, you Israelites?ā€ TheĀ LordĀ is speaking. [[#Verse 12.]]Ā ā€œBut you made the Nazirites drink wine; you commanded the prophets, ā€˜Do not prophesy!’ [[#Verse 13.]]Ā Look! I will press you down, like a cart loaded down with grain presses down. [[#Verse 14.]]Ā Fast runners will find no place to hide; strong men will have no strength left; warriors will not be able to save their lives. [[#Verse 15.]]Ā ArchersĀ will not hold their ground; fast runners will not save their lives, nor will those who ride horses. [[#Verse 16.]]Ā BraveheartedĀ warriors will run away naked in that day.ā€ TheĀ LordĀ is speaking. ## ==šŸ“– Verse-by-Verse Commentary== ###### Overall. ###### Verse 01. ###### Verse 02. ###### Verse 03. ###### Verse 04. ###### Verse 05. ###### Verse 06. ###### Verse 07. ###### Verse 08. ###### Verse 09. ###### Verse 10. ###### Verse 11. ###### Verse 12. ###### Verse 13. ###### Verse 14. ###### Verse 15. ###### Verse 16. ## šŸ¤” Interesting Facts / Historical and Cultural Insights - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write down things that are not straight from commentary but interesting facts that ground the text in history. %% ## 🧠 Chapter Summary - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write a short paragraph (3–5 sentences) summarizing what happens in this chapter. - What is the main event or teaching? - How does this chapter fit the book’s overall story? - What stands out immediately?
