Biblical Studies Press, 2005) ### The Opportunity to Begin Again [[#Verse 01.]]Ā At that same time theĀ LordĀ said to me, ā€œCarve out for yourself two stone tablets like the first ones and come up the mountain to me; also make for yourself a wooden ark.Ā  [[#Verse 02.]]Ā I will write on the tablets the same wordsĀ that were on the first tablets you broke, and you must put them into the ark.ā€Ā  [[#Verse 03.]]Ā So I made an ark of acaciaĀ wood and carved out two stone tablets just like the first ones. Then I went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hands.Ā  [[#Verse 04.]]Ā TheĀ LordĀ then wrote on the tablets the same words,Ā the Ten Commandments,Ā which heĀ had spoken to you at the mountain from the middle of the fire at the time of that assembly, and heĀ gave them to me.Ā  [[#Verse 05.]]Ā Then I turned, went down the mountain, and placed the tablets into the ark I had made—they are still there, just as theĀ LordĀ commanded me. ### Conclusion of the Historical RĆ©sumĆ© [[#Verse 06.]]Ā During those days the Israelites traveled from Beeroth Bene JaakanĀ to Moserah.Ā There Aaron died and was buried, and his son Eleazar became priest in his place.Ā  [[#Verse 07.]]Ā From there they traveled to Gudgodah,Ā and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah,Ā a place of flowing streams.Ā  [[#Verse 08.]]Ā At that time theĀ Lordset apart the tribe of LeviĀ to carry the ark of theĀ Lord’s covenant, to stand before theĀ LordĀ to serve him, and to formulate blessingsĀ in his name, as they do to this very day.Ā  [[#Verse 09.]]Ā Therefore Levi has no allotment or inheritance among his brothers;Ā theĀ LordĀ is his inheritance just as theĀ LordĀ your God told him.Ā  [[#Verse 10.]]Ā As for me, I stayed at the mountain as I did the first time, forty days and nights. TheĀ LordĀ listened to me that time as well and decided not to destroy you.Ā  [[#Verse 11.]]Ā Then heĀ said to me, ā€œGet up, set out leadingĀ the people so they may go and possessĀ the land I promised to give to their ancestors.ā€ ### An Exhortation to Love Both God and People [[#Verse 12.]]Ā Now, Israel, what does theĀ LordĀ your God require of you except to revere him,Ā to obey all his commandments,Ā to love him, to serve himĀ with all your mind and being,Ā  [[#Verse 13.]]Ā and to keep theĀ Lord’s commandments and statutes that I am givingĀ you today for your own good?Ā  [[#Verse 14.]]Ā The heavens—indeed the highest heavens—belong to theĀ LordĀ your God, as does the earth and everything in it. [[#Verse 15.]]Ā However, only to your ancestors did heĀ show his loving favor,Ā and he chose you, their descendants,Ā from all peoples—as is apparent today.Ā  [[#Verse 16.]]Ā Therefore, cleanseĀ your hearts and stop being so stubborn!Ā  [[#Verse 17.]]Ā For theĀ LordĀ your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awesome God who is unbiased and takes no bribe,Ā  [[#Verse 18.]]Ā who justly treatsĀ the orphan and widow, and who loves resident foreigners, giving them food and clothing.Ā  [[#Verse 19.]]Ā So you must love the resident foreigner because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.Ā  [[#Verse 20.]]Ā Revere theĀ LordĀ your God, serve him, be loyal to him, and take oaths only in his name.Ā  [[#Verse 21.]]Ā He is the one you should praise;Ā he is your God, the one who has done these great and awesome things for you that you have seen.Ā  [[#Verse 22.]]Ā When your ancestors went down to Egypt, they numbered only seventy, but now theĀ LordĀ your God has made you as numerous as the stars of the sky. ## ==šŸ“– Verse-by-Verse Commentary== ###### Overall. ###### Verse 01. ###### Verse 02. ###### Verse 03. ###### Verse 04. ###### Verse 05. ###### Verse 06. ###### Verse 07. ###### Verse 08. ###### Verse 09. ###### Verse 10. ###### Verse 11. ###### Verse 12. ###### Verse 13. ###### Verse 14. ###### Verse 15. ###### Verse 16. ###### Verse 17. ###### Verse 18. ###### Verse 19. ###### Verse 20. ###### Verse 21. ###### Verse 22. ## šŸ¤” Interesting Facts / Historical and Cultural Insights - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write down things that are not straight from commentary but interesting facts that ground the text in history. %% ## 🧠 Chapter Summary - coming soon. %% PRIVATE NOTES (only I see this) Write a short paragraph (3–5 sentences) summarizing what happens in this chapter. - What is the main event or teaching? - How does this chapter fit the book’s overall story? - What stands out immediately?
