Title: The King Leads The Way
Scripture: (John 13:4-5) “So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him.”
Observation: Only someone who is truly confident in who they are can humble themselves to serve others. If you don’t know who you are, you end up serving as a means of gaining identity. You try to impress people or try to earn someone’s approval. Jesus didn’t do any of this. He took the stance of a servant and washed their feet. He did this as an example of how they should serve one another. He wasn’t saying we should go around washing people’s fee. (Don’t even ask.) He was saying we should always reach out and serve our brothers and sisters in faith.
Application: Look for ways to serve a fellow Christ-follower today.
Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for serving us by giving Your Life. That’s the greatest gift.
